Gemini Customs “Ultimate Package for Ruger GP100®”
Back in the 2009 July/August issue of American Handgunner Magazine, Roy Huntington wrote a very nice feature about a series of J-Framed S&W® revolvers we were building at that time. It was titled “an Ultimate J-Frame”. Roy, as author to the article and test pilot for these guns, dubbed the little J-Frames The Ultimate J-Frame, and as a result the name really stuck. The most prominent feature of these beautiful little snubbies was our custom barrel, machined in our shop, and fitted and sculpted to match and blend into the contours and shape of the revolver’s frame.
We have always wanted to accomplish the same level of customization, accuracy and cosmetic enhancement to the legendary Ruger GP100®. The Ruger GP100® is a superb sidearm and a great gun for this concept. So in late 2018 we started to do exactly that, build our dream gun that we have proudly named the “Ultimate Package for Ruger GP100®”.
We are building these guns in several different configurations, both adjustable rear sighted versions as well as the excellent Wiley Clapp (WC) version of the Ruger GP100® that employs the Novak Lo Mount rear sight. They are available in the excellent .357 MAGNUM, 10MM AUTO and .44 SPECIAL in both fixed rear sight WC frame configuration as well as the Ruger GP100® adjustable rear sighted version.
Our custom barrels are machined in our shop utilizing Douglas XX Match Grade 1.875: OD Barrel blanks to machine our barrels from. Each is lathe turned between centers for perfect bore to OD alignment in the machining process. This is as accurate as a barrel can be made for these purposes. All barrels are fitted at TDC and referenced to the frame as front sight cuts are machined in perfect symmetry to the rear sight dovetail. There is no more accurate way to do this, it is the Ultimate way to build a revolver.
The 10MM AUTO and .357MAGNUM caliber Ultimate Package for Ruger GP100®’s with the Wiley Clapp frame configuration are built on existing weapons chambered in those calibers. The addition of our Ultimate custom barrel to the existing frames is carefully fitted and sculpted to the contours of the Ruger GP100® frame to create these sidearms.
The .44 SPECIAL and .357 MAGNUM frames use a 5/8” x 24 TPI barrel from the factory. We machine our barrels as a heavy duty 11/16” x 24 TPI. and line bore and thread the frames of these two calibers to accept our barrels. The 10MM is already machined to the larger 11/16 x 24 TPI pattern and do not require the line for and thread services to accept our barrels.
The .44 Ultimate with the WC configuration requires two guns to complete the conversion. The action components and cylinders are swapped between a WC Ruger GP100® in 10MM and a .44 SPECIAL adjustable rear sighted Ruger GP100®. This conversion yields a WC Ruger GP100® chambered in the .44 special, which makes a superb carry gun.
We see the adjustable rear sighted version as a highly customized and nicely configured sidearm for general purpose, field and trail use in a rugged and very accurate sidearm. It should perform beautifully on the trail for defense in Mountain Lion, Black Bear and Feral Hog country. With our 3” barrel it handles and balances nicely and the V8 Hybraporting tames muzzle flip and allows for fast follow up shots if desired.
Our WC Ruger GP100® version in all listed calibers is simply a beautiful and highly personalized Combat, Carry and duty style sidearm for those that want the Ultimate in a highly customized sidearm that is accurate, beautiful, easy to shoot, and unique in every passible way. From our Exotic Wood grips, to the Cobrachrome finish, these are truly works of functional art from the gunmakers shop.
We are offering these guns with every option possible that we offer for the Ruger GP100® including the custom machining and installation of our Ultimate barrels. The cost of each varies with options selected and caliber specific machine work requirements. These are truly custom revolvers of the highest grade and we will work with each customers specific needs and wants accordingly.

The Ultimate Package for WC Ruger GP100® .357 MAGNUM and 10 MM AUTO
Our Ultimate Package for WC Ruger GP100® .357 MAGNUM and 10 MM AUTO includes the following upgrades parts and services as included in the package configuration. These can be built on a customer supplied weapon or built to order on shop supplied weapons when available. You are welcome to call for current pricing and availability on shop inventory weapons for your project.
- Gemini Customs Ultimate Package for Ruger GP100® barrel, 2.5”-3.0”- 3.5”, Custom machined and installed into line bored and threaded @ 11/16 x 24 TPI frame on .357 MAGNUM. 10MM Auto is already threaded at 11/16 X 24 TPI. Barrel throat to Cylinder face gapped at 0.0055”, with throat forcing cone cut and polished @ 5 degrees on .357 MAGNUM and 11 degrees on 10MM AUTO. Muzzle crown is a recessed 11 degree target style with polished face and glass bead fine matte finish.

We will try to work with each customer on these very personal sidearms to supply the best and closest high grade grips we have available at any given time. Ultimate Trail and Field Package for Ruger GP100®
Our Ultimate Trail and Field Package for Ruger GP100® revolver is available in three calibers, .357 MAGNUM, 10MM AUTO and .44 SPECIAL. These are built on customer supplied weapons and utilizes the Ruger GP100® with the adjustable rear sight. These are common in .357 as 3”, 4.2” and 6” barrel lengths and all of these models can be used for the upgrade to our Ultimate Package.
The Ultimate Trail and Field Package for Ruger GP100® revolver in .44 SPECIAL is also an adjustable rear sight frame version commonly available in 3”. We line bore and thread the frame to the oversized 11/16 x 24 TPI and fit our custom machined barrel to the frames. The barrel wall thickness, especially at the forcing cone is nearly 3 times the thickness of the stock Ruger® .44 SPECIAL barrel, which allows unlimited use of powerful loads for the .44 SPECIAL without pressure and erosion issues the thinner barrel might be subject to. Our barrels have wall thickness nearing .44 MAGNUM measurements and easily handle the hottest .44 SPECIAL loads.The .44 SPECIAL is a great cartridge for just about anything a sidearm might be used for. It is a soft shooting big hole maker with a history of excellent accuracy and great overall performance.
This Ultimate Trail and Field package for Ruger GP100® revolver in 10MM is a special weapon we build from the donor guns used in the Ultimate WC Ruger GP100® .44 SPECIAL CONVERSIONS. These are .44 special frames, with the action and cylinder components of the 10MM AUTO carefully fitted into the adjustable rear sighted frames and tuned to perfection. These are powerful, accurate all around do it all guns well suited to any field and medium game hunting. Excellent as defensive revolver in the field in Mountain Lion Country and Eastern Balck Bear and large Feral Hog territory. The 10MM auto is an excellent and capable cartridge with power levels and velocities similar to the proven .357 MAGNUM, but allows the use of heavier bullet weights to make a noticeable difference in terminal ballistics. In other words it hits hard ,penetrates deep and does great damage. These guns are available on our website for sale page as they become available.

Ultimate Special Conversion for WC Ruger GP100® .44 Special
Our Ultimate Special Conversion Package for WC Ruger GP100® .44 Sidearm is a masterpiece of the gunmakers craft. It was built out of the desire for something truly special and unique, where many good ideas come from in the first place. Necessity is truly the Mother of Invention, or in this particular case cross breeding to get what we wanted. We love the .44 Special, and this is our version of a delightful modern revolver for this powerful ,capeable time tested cartridge.
This Ultimate Special Conversion for WC Ruger GP100® .44 SPECIAL CONVERSION is the marriage of parts from two separate guns, the conversion or recipient gun and the donor gun. Action parts and cylinder parts from the .44 special, the “donor” gun are transplanted, fitted and tuned to perfection into the conversion guns frame. The recipient or conversion gun is a WC Ruger GP100® 10MM AUTO frame configured with the proven Novak Lo Mount rear sight installed at factory level. What we were after was ruggedly built medium framed Combat Carry stye revolver chambered in the excellent .44 special cartridge. In order to accomplish this required the barrel to be a custom machined affair to accommodate the larger 11/16 x 24 TPI barrel size that the 10MM AUTO utilizes. This is where the Ultimate platform was reborn again. These are custom guns for the discerning owner that wants the very best combat style platform in an accurate, soft shooting big hole maker with a time tested and proven cartridge classic, combined with all the features of a modern high performance defensive revolver.
These revolver masterpieces can be built on customer supplied weapons, (remember it takes two guns to build this one) or they can be built on shop supplied weapons. Each gun is a pure custom undertaking and these guns get the best of everything we offer for our Ultimate Packages for Ruger GP100®’s. We obviously work closely with our clientele when configuring and building these works of modern revolver artistry and price accordingly.
